About Me and how I work

A very warm welcome to you.

I offer an experienced and professional approach to help you find the peace, clarity or change you might be seeking. With a background in the arts, I've worked in mental health since 2008 and alongside my private counselling practice, I worked with NHS services including eating disorders and gender identity, for several years.

I work primarily with the person centred model. This differs from more 'solution focused' models and is an empowering, non directive way of working. Within this gentle approach, I aim to provide you with a space that feels safe, where you can come as you are and be accepted, as you are. My role is to get alongside you and help you explore your world.

My style of counselling is relaxed and inclusive, which means our work together is designed around what you want and need. The work is supportive and respectful as we go at your pace and my aim is to get alongside you on your path, helping you explore your world to find understanding, clarity or solution. Sessions are centred around you and how you experience yourself and the world around you. I aim to create a space with you, that feels held and secure. You are in control of your path and I am a willing companion.

Counselling can offer a unique relationship, in which you might share your most private thoughts and experiences, where you will be respected, trusted and accepted. My commitment to you is to help build a trusting relationship, which is absolutely key within therapy. This can happen quickly, or it can take some time, it's all OK. The process might feel scary at first and that's very normal.

I am fully qualified and registered, fully insured and hold a full DBS certificate.

I am a proud ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I am an accredited member of The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and work within this ethical framework.
